Located just south of Phuket Town which it borders, Chalong Bay has a low exposure to wind and currents. Hence it is the perfect place for sailboats, yachts, fishing boats and many other vessels to house throughout the year.
It is also from Chalong pier that excursions leave to the surrounding islands like Koh Phi Phi, Koh Lanta, etc.
The place is not really conducive to sunbathing or swimming, but many restaurants specializing in seafood have settled in Chalong for many years. The best known is Kan Aeng, one of the oldest restaurant on the island. It was used to work with the first inhabitants of the island. The Sea Gypsies supplied the restaurant with fresh seafood, helping it to build a reputation of quality that the place tries to develop nowadays.
