Blue Canyon Country Club
The two 18-hole courses at Blue Canyon Country Club are called respectively lake canyon racing and race. Located north of Phuket Island near the International Airport, this golf is one of the best known in the whole country and is also widely known beyond Thai borders. This golf course hosted a 1998 victory of Tiger Woods during a test of the Johnnie Walker Classic.
Red Mountain Golf Club
Red Mountain Golf Course opened in 2007 on the site of an old tin mine. Located in Kathu, in the center of the island, this 18-hole course is arguably one of the most spectacular in Thailand, if not in the World. The name of the course comes from the rocks found everywhere along the fairway, giving a strong singularity to that golf course. Different holes were designed to take advantage of the wide variety of available reliefs, and level changes are very marked on some holes, including the departure of the 17th hole which offers a breathtaking view over the green below.
Mission Hills Phuket Golf Resort and Spa
Mission Hills golf course offers postcards landscapes and spectacular views over Phang Nga bay, and the proximity of the sea makes this course worth a visit because of the sensational atmosphere that emerges. Some holes of this course were designed by golf legend Jack Nicklaus. Flat, this course nonetheless requires precision and technique to avoid the beautiful white sandy bunkers, and water hazards that are present on seven of the eighteen holes. Located in the northeast part of the island only ten minutes from Phuket International Airport, the complex is also a resort and a spa, offering first class services.
Laguna Phuket Golf Course
Laguna Phuket Golf course is located near Bang Tao Bay in the western part of the island. This course is integrated into the Laguna Phuket complex, which comprises several luxury hotels including the Banyan Tree and Dusit Thani. Residents of the Laguna hotels have discounts to play on the Laguna golf course. This course is pleasant with its marine air to its proximity to the Andaman Sea and tropical decor. The course is a real pleasure for less experienced golfers as the greens are large and quite welcoming. The greatest difficulties come in the last two holes, both par-5 of almost 600 meters long with tricky water hazards.
Loch Palm Golf Course
Recently renovated, the 18-hole Loch Palm golf club is located in Kathu, in the center of the island, close to the Red Mountain golf course. It was built on an ancient tin mine and is designed in a remarkable way. Golfers will enjoy the gentle slopes, hills and small ravines going between water hazards, giving a challenge to golfers of all levels.
Phuket Country Club
Located in Kathu, Phuket Country Club was the first golf course of the island when it opened its doors in 1989. It comprises a 9-hole course with many obstacles and golfers will have to accommodate with water 90% of the course. Probably the most demanding course of the island in terms of precision and technique. The 18-hole, also called the old course, offers flat to undulating landscape in a natural forest and is much less technical than the 9-hole course.
Phunaka Golf Club Phuket
Phunaka Golf Club and golf academy recently opened in Chalong, in the south of Phuket. This excellent nine-hole lighted at night, will be a challenge to players of all levels. Designed by John Morrow, the course (ranging from 100 to 190 meters) is beautifully hosted in a hilly landscape with water hazards, offering golfers a technical terrain. The course includes many obstacles and strategically placed bunkers. The Phunaka Golf Club includes a club where academic programs and lessons are suitable for all levels of players who want to perfect their game and technique.
