Patong Bay regroups several beaches. The most famous one, which is also the beach concentrating the largest number of visitors is Patong beach. For those looking for activities under the sun, Patong beach offers plenty of entertainment and services.
On the beach, you will find easily your way to sun loungers and umbrellas. Many peddlers propose souvenirs, fresh drinks, ice-creams, food, clothing, jewelry, handicrafts, and many other things.
If you are more active, Patong beach offers several water activities such as jet skiing, parasailing or banana boats. But if you prefer to relax on the beach, you will have no difficulty to find a Thai massage.
There are also many restaurants near the beach, some of them sitting right on the beach, in the middle of it.
The small town of Patong is famous for its nightlife and as the most visited part of Phuket, it provides a very wide selection of restaurants, hotels, bars and shops. There is also the Jungceylon shopping mall which includes various shops, restaurants and cinemas.
As mentioned before, Patong Bay hosts 3 other beaches:
The first one is Kalim beach which is in fact an extension of Patong beach, separated only by a small rock formation. The beach is filled with rocks and is not really suitable for swimming. However the area around the beach is quite developed with bars, restaurants and hotels due to the proximity of Patong beach.
At the southern end of Patong bay, it takes approximately 15 minutes with a long tail boat to reach the lovely Freedom beach. If you want to admire coral reefs and colorful fishes, marine life is pretty abundant in Freedom beach.
Just south of Patong beach is the small and relaxing Paradise beach, where you can enjoy a quiet beach and snorkeling, even if the coral reef at this place was severely damaged by the Tsunami.
