Snakes are pretty common in Thailand but they are pretty hard to see in their natural habitat. So if you want to see local species, venomous ones or not, better to head to a snake farm. The most poisonous snake in Thailand is of course king cobra, which happens to be the biggest venomous snake in the world.
Other species that you should see are cobras, banded krait, Russell vipers. Most of sea snakes also live in Thailand waters but it is rare to see them in snake farms. Sea snakes venoms are very powerful but hopefully these species are very peaceful and not aggressive at all. Besides, their teeth are so small that a sea snake is not able to inject its venom to a human, unless a thin skin body part is bitten.
In farms, the venom is extracted from the snakes to study their composition and develop anti-venom serums. During snake shows, you should see how to proceed to extract the venom from a snake.
Most snake farms have their own shows that are pretty amazing. These shows generally have an educational part. Yet it is also about entertaining the crowd, and you should certainly see a snake charmer kissing the head of a king cobra.
